New Day on Mill Needs

New Day on Mill provides transitional housing & life skills training for homeless single women and women with children.  For more information, please contact Harriet Reid, program manager, at newday@truvista.net or call 803-432-5456.   A collection box for household items for New Day is in Bethesda's office hallway.

Food for the Soul

The mission of Food for the Soul is to serve the hungry and homeless in Kershaw County. In partnership with Mt. Moriah Baptist Church & the United Way of Kershaw County.  The Soup Kitchen / Emergency Shelter opened April 19, 2011 behind the United Way Holsten Center on East DeKalb Street.  This is an important step forward for the Camden area in caring for those in need of a meal and / or temporary hospitality in emergency situations.    More information about Food for the Soul

Other Benevolences

Bethesda takes up five special offerings each year:

One Great Hour of Sharing --  Easter

Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina -- Mother's Day

Dimes for Hunger -- October

Thornwell Home for Children -- Thanksgiving

Joy Gift -- December

In addition, our youth take up a "Souper Bowl" offering on Super Bowl Sunday each year and undertake other projects during the year.

After each worship service when we have communion (the Transfiguration Sunday in February, Maundy Thursday in March, the first Sundays in May and August, Worldwide Communion Sunday in October, Christ the King Sunday in November), worshippers have the opportunity to contribute to the minister's discretionary fund which is used to help people in need in our community.

Please Contribute Your Time & Talents

As you know, our church runs on more than monetary donations from the congregation.  Through the efforts of each and every one of you, we are able to provide a variety of programs for the education of our membership and the worship of the Lord.

Our church will be richer as a result of your involvement in the various programs that we offer and you, too, will feel rewarded personally. Please call the church office or email Holley to let us know how you would like to contribute your time & talents.
