Fifty-five Plus Club

Bethesda offers its members who are 55 years old or older an opportunity for fellowship through the 55+ Club.  The monthly meetings of the 55+ Club feature interesting programs which often draw on local talent for information and entertainment.  Invocations, lectures, demonstrations, and music enrich the lives of members.  Monthly meetings also include a delicious lunch.  The 55+ Club of Bethesda offers many enjoyable experiences.  Most of all, members are drawn to the group by the opportunity to gather with friends and to add new friends to their life experience.  The 55+ Club president is Bob Clithero.  Meetings usually begin at 10:30 a.m. & include lunch.  Please contact the church office at 432-4593 if you'd like to attend so that adequate preparation can be made for the meal.

Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women meet on the second Tuesday of each month from September through May.   Women’s Circles meet at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.  Any woman who would like to join other women for Bible study and fellowship is encouraged to become a member of a Circle.   You may choose either a morning or afternoon Circle.

Come to learn more about the Bible and to have a good time with your fellow church members.  Please contact the church office for further information.

Serena Ogburn serves as Moderator of Presbyterian Women.

Men's Breakfast

Men of the church meet on the second Tuesday of each month, September through May, at 7:30 a.m. for the Men’s Breakfast.  They enjoy a meal prepared by the men, and then participate in a devotion to start the day off right.  All men of the church are encouraged to join this group any time for good food, fellowship, and divine inspiration!  If you like biscuits, eggs, grits and other breakfast foods, please join us!

Health Ministry

Bethesda’s health ministry is led by our Parish Nurse, a registered nurse who works as a member of the church staff.  The mission of Parish Nurse is to continue Christ’s healing ministry through a holistic approach to caring for the mind, body, and soul.  The Parish Nurse enhances systems already in place, working closely with various agencies, health providers, and other health professionals.  The focus of the Parish Nurse’s work is four-fold:  health educator, health advocate, health counselor and referral agent, and leader of the health cabinet.  Bethesda members make up the Health Cabinet which guides health education activities for the congregation.  Among other activities, the Health Cabinet takes blood pressure readings at Coffee Fellowship on the second Sunday of the month.  Also, those who come to 55+ can also have their blood pressure taken at the 55+ meetings.

Thanks to our Health Cabinet members:  Aaron Munn, Debbie Herman, Nancy Rose, Alisa Morris, Joyce Abrahamson, Dr. Cindy Deringer, Kelly Garity, Dennis Lofe, Greg Skaggs, Lisa Martin, Dr. Judy Martin, Joyce Watkins, Dr. Renee Thomas, & Joy Parrott.

For further information please contact Joy Parrott, Parish Nurse through the church office at 432-4593.

Trips to visit historical sites, as well as to enjoy entertainment opportunities, are a regular feature of the Bethesda Travelers’ activities.  The church bus takes the Travelers to movies, gardens, seasonal events, or landmarks several times a year.  Mary Jo LaBorde is the contact for this lively group.
